Punk and Go-go Shorts

These videos were inspired by the YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels that I watch as a drummer. About a minute long, these short videos typically include tutorials on how to play certain fills, ideas, or licks.

The videos I created are similar, but explain historical concepts while also introducing the various sounds of DC’s music scene in the 1970s and 80s. Listen to get a feel for punk and go-go percussion and to learn about how DC parks nurtured music and free expression during this period.
